Picking up the clandestine themes of his previous releases, Eddie Merced returns with three tracks of immersive, techno-informed deep house pitched to take the dancefloor far out and further in all at the same time.

Merced’s sound draws on the lush synthesis pioneered in Detroit, while the tough urgency of his rhythm section speaks to his proximity to all things NYC, but he draws these influences into a spiritual, inquisitive end result which feels primed for warm ups, wind downs and woozy morning sessions alike. ‘Spies In Berlin’ sets the tone in that regard with its cascading arps, melancholic pads and haunting, off-key strings, while ‘Project MK-Ultra’ toys with subtle touches of swing and freaky yet elegantly deployed acid lines. ‘Spooks 101’ completes the set with heavy-lidded, gated synths pulsing out and opening up over brooding low end that urges full, eyes closed immersion.

Delivering a clear-sighted, intentional approach which balances just a few elements and makes them shine, Eddie Merced’s sound is impeccable and engrossing across these three advanced pieces of synth-powered house music motivated by the mysteries which hide behind closed doors and the unknowable secrets of the great beyond.
